C. Adjust the FEEDER RATE control to provide a moderate rate of product
flowing down the chutes.
3.2.2 NORMAL SHUTDOWN
If the ScanMasterII will be restarted again in less than eight hours, we recommend
that it not be powered down. The sorter will be more stable when it runs at a
consistent temperature. It may take several hours of operation to reach normal
operating temperature from a cold start. The sorter will run at a temperature above
ambient, so even when ambient temperatures are warm it will take an hour or more
to reach a stable temperature. Leaving the sorter on overnight will assure that it will
be ready to sort immediately when the rest of the process is restarted for the next
shift.
If the ScanMasterII will be off for more than eight hours, the shutdown procedure is
to first close the operator interface, then shutdown Windows operating system, and
finally turn off the power switch on the sorter. Touch the “X” in the upper right
corner of the operator interface application. As with any PC software, touching the
“X” closes the operator interface application. Next, touch “Start“ on the taskbar, and
touch Turn Off Computer. The Turn Off Computer window shall appear. Touch the
middle button, “Turn Off Computer”, and wait for the shutdown sequence to
complete (dark screen). When the touchscreen is dark, press the POWER switch on
the Front Panel to turn off the sorter.
Note: The AVAILABLE lamp will stay on even though power has been turned off.
3.2.3 POWER FAILURE
In the event of a power failure, the ScanMasterII undergoes a preset shutdown
sequence, designed to prevent system damage.
When power fails, the main CPU receives a signal from the power supply indicating
that main power is missing. Battery power takes over and supplies power to the CPU
and touch screen. The signal to the CPU sends a shutdown command to the system
operator interface. When the operator interface is off, the operating system
undergoes a shutdown of its own. Following the operating system shutdown is a
battery shutdown.
3.2.3.1 RESTORING POWER
If power is restored after a fifteen second period, machine power will be restored,
and the Windows operating system and system operator interface start. This brings
the ScanMasterII to an operating state identical to just before the power loss, except
that the feeder is off.
The Operator must clean up the product bins before pressing the Feeder On button
to restart sorting.
3.2.3.2 RESTORING POWER AFTER A MINIMAL POWER FAILURE
There are times when a power failure lasts less than the ScanMasterII shutdown
time. A brief (less than 15 seconds) power failure does not change the system
shutdown sequence.
