The simultaneous color and translucence mode is a special case. This DUAL mode is
used primarily for sorting chalky rice. In this configuration the rice is sorted by
translucence on the front view, removing chalky grains. At the same time, the rice
is sorted by reflectance on the rear view, removing off-color grains by dark trip and
chalky grains by light trip.
2.5.2.3 LAMP TYPE
The color/wavelength of lamp being used should be selected using this feature.
If installing lamps of a different color than were previously installed, select the type
of lamp to be installed in the sorter. The choices are: ULTRAVIOLET, BLUE, GREEN,
PLANT, RED, INFRARED, DESIGNER 3500, BLUE/RED, RED/GREEN, and BLUE/GREEN.
This selection will center the range of the ‘LAMP LEVEL’ setting in SETUP1 for the
peak wavelength of the selected lamp.
2.5.2.4 VIEW MODE
The ScanMasterII can classify objects depending on whether the defect is visible
from only one side, or from both the front and the rear. In the VIEW MODE menu,
select OR to remove objects that are classified as defects in either the front view or
the rear view. Of course, in this mode an object that is classified as a defect in both
the front view and the rear view will also be removed. Select AND to remove only
those objects that are classified as defects in both the front view and
the rear view
at the same time. This mode should be used only with medium and large size
products, since with very small products, it may be difficult to control the position
of the product in the viewer. This could prevent both sides from being in the view
at the same time.
2.5.2.5 WIPER TIMING
The wiper timing is set by adjusting the time for each step in the wipe sequence to
begin. When the WIPE button on the MAIN SCREEN is touched, the feeders will stop
and the timing sequence begins. The wiper must wait for product flow to clear from
the chutes. This time in seconds is set in START WIPER. The feeders should restart
so that product enters the viewer just after the wiper passes. This time in seconds
is set in START FEEDER. The air pressure must stay on the wiper cylinder long
enough to assure that the wiper has reached the end of its travel. This time in
seconds is set in STOP WIPER.
The wiper will cycle automatically to keep the windows clean. The time between
wiper activation is set in minutes in WIPER INTERVAL. When the wiper is activated
from the WIPE button, the wiper timer will be reset to begin a new interval period.
WARNING: Never override the door open switch unless the wiper has been
removed or unplugged. The wiper operates automatically, and will be damaged
if it cycles across the viewer when the front half of the viewer is pivoted open.
