B.1.1 Standards and approvals
All of the described components with the exception of the DP/PA coupler Ex [i]
comply with the standards and approvals specified below. How the DP/PA coupler
Ex [i] deviates from the standards and approvals specified here is described in
Appendix B.1.2.
CE approval
The described components fulfill the requirements and safety objectives of the
following EC Directives and comply with the harmonized European standards (EN)
published for programmable logic controllers in the official journals of the European
Communities:
73/23/EEC Low Voltage Directive (for electrical equipment)
89/336/EEC Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive (EMC Directive)
Directive 94/9/EC on protective devices and systems for use in potentially
explosive areas (explosion protection directive)
