3.9.3 GeminELV Lamp Supply Monitor
When a serial interface is implemented between controller and Gemini unit all communication are
pasted via this link. However, it may be necessary to provide independent indication of ELV lamp
supply failure, should the serial link communications be lost. This indication can be provided to a
Gemini unit, for onward reporting to an Instation, by the implementation of a modification kit
667/1/62612/000. Full instruction for the installation of the kit is provided on document
667/GA/62612/000. The modification involves the activation of a relay by an I/O output,
generated when the lamp supply is lost. The relay is installed in the master switch assembly,
detailed in paragraph 3.4. Special conditioning in the ST750ELV controller provides the
necessary activations signal for the relay, which utilises the monitoring input at Gemini unit’s
‘High V input 2’ and ‘High V input C’; on PL1 of the Gemini² unit.
To aid final configuration, at the installation site, some of the necessary wiring will be
implemented during factory controller construction. The wires for connection to an I/O card output
will be brought within reach of the I/O card outputs but left unconnected. The correct output will
be identified for each installation at site configuration time. Special Instructions should be
consulted for details of which output provides the drive for the ‘supply monitor’ relay.
