  Several factors could be the cause. It might be due to the DESS not reading the tether cord cap, in which case you should properly install the tether cord cap. If the DESS reads a different tether cord cap code, install the correct one for your snowmobile. Other possible causes include a worn drive belt (replace if it has lost more than 3 mm of its original width) or engine overheating. For liquid-cooled engines, verify the coolant level, pressure cap, thermostat, and check for air locks. For fan-cooled engines, check the fan belt and its tension, and clean the engine's cooling fins.

  First, ensure the engine cut-out switch is in the ON position and the tether cord cap (DESS key) is correctly installed. Check the fuel tank level and follow the correct starting procedure, paying attention to the choke. If the engine is flooded, remove the wet spark plug, turn the ignition switch to OFF, crank the engine several times, and then install a clean, dry spark plug. Also, check for fuel reaching the engine and inspect the spark plugs for spark.
