The broadcast station band (FM, MW and LW for DHC-EX880MD, FM and AM
for DHC-MD717) or frequency are not correct.
m Set the proper band and frequency (see page 13).
The antenna is not connected properly.
m Connect the antenna properly (see pages 8 to 10).
• The antenna is set up in a place with poor reception.
• The signal strength is too weak.
m Find a place (e.g., outside a window) and an orientation that provide good
reception, then set up the antenna again.
The supplied FM lead antenna may not provide good reception inside a steel
reinforced concrete or steel-frame building. If you cannot obtain good reception
even when you place the supplied antenna outside a window, we recommend
you connect an optional outdoor antenna.
Part of the antenna is folded, tied or rolled up.
m The supplied FM lead antenna receives signals along its entire length, so make
sure you extend it fully (see pages 9 to 11).
m Fasten the tip of the supplied FM lead antenna to a wall with tape or a tack (see
page 11).
Part of the antenna is tied together with the speaker cord.
m Locate the antennas as far away from the speaker cords as possible.
The supplied AM antenna has come off the plastic stand.
m Consult your nearest Sony dealer.
The system is affected by electrical equipment.
m Try turning off the electrical equipment.
The tuner is set to MONO.
m Press STEREO/MONO until “STEREO” appears in the display.
Reception is poor.
