Warnings:
Alarm conditions for which you want to be alerted must be set to ON or
enabled at the location where you want to be alerted — either bedside or
central. You can enable them from the local bedside monitor, remote
bedside monitor, or central monitor.
To protect the patient’s safety, do not silence, suspend, or disable alarms
without providing continuous, direct observation of the patient.
Custom alarm settings are not maintained beyond the battery capacity if
power is lost.
Make sure alarm limits are appropriate for the age and condition of the
patient being monitored.
Set alarm ranges appropriate to the patient:
- Setting alarm ranges too narrow may result in a high rate of nuisance
alarms and cause alarm fatigue.
- Setting alarm ranges too wide effectively disables the alarm function.
Cautions:
Check that alarm settings are correct on the monitor once during each shift
and upon each patient admission to make sure that the alarm settings are
appropriate for the patient being monitored.
Notes:
Within one second, the network is notified of an alarm condition.
Central monitor alarms show within one second of a bedside alarm
condition.
