Warning! Danger of poisoning!
Metal vapors may be generated from the sample material. Depending on the
sample material, these vapors may be toxic, e.g. in case of heavy metals.
Ensure that protective equipment is worn in such cases, e.g. a
breathing apparatus and extraction equipment is installed. The
protective methods must ensure that the applicable threshold limit
values (TLV) and/or comparable national standards are not exceeded.
Warning! Risk of electrical shock!
When the instrument is switched on, there is a risk of an electric shock when the
electrode is touched or when the sample is removed during a measurement.
For a healthy person, this electric shock is of no concern. These are low currents
and voltages which are below the limit values of EN61010. However, a shock
may cause a subsequent accident, e.g. a fall from a ladder.
Never touch the sample while a measurement is in progress.
Avoid any contact with the electrode if the excitation is activated (plasma
generator).
Always shut down the excitation (plasma generator) when working on the
spark stand (stationary spectrometers) or on the test probe (mobile
spectrometers).
On mobile spectrometers, as an alternative, the probe can also be
disconnected from the instrument.

Contacting the electrode increases the risk of burn injuries. During normal
operation, the electrode will heat up to several hundred degrees.
Never touch the electrode with your bare hands, even after shutting
down the spectrometer. Always use pliers.
If an adapter is used for several measurements in a row, it can get hot.
Touch the adapter only after it has sufficiently cooled.
A sample can get hot if it is measured several times.
Touch the sample only after it has sufficiently cooled.
