Irrigation
Process of cleaning instruments through the use of controlled water flow and/or spray. See also
"flushing".

Loading
Placing (and/or connecting) instruments to be processed within the equipment basket and then
putting basket inside tank.
Locked
Describes factory-set parameters and wash programs that cannot be edited by operators or
supervisors.
Log
A record of key wash cycle information. The record of wash cycle information
Luer hose
A hose that connects to either instrument port or to distal connector to facilitate flushing.
Lumen
A hollow channel or narrow cavity. May refer to feature within medical instuments and/or
connectors to such intruments.
M
Maintenance
Periodic actions required to keep equipment in such condition that it may be utilized, at its
original or designed capacity and efficiency, and for its intended purpose.
Manifold
Normally located in the basket, a manifold provides connection to flushing feature of
equipment. Each manifold will have a set number of luer connection ports.
