2 In the driver’s seat
First, check the shift selector with the engine shut
down. Then start the engine and perform the follow-
ing checks after allowing the engine to warm up.
Coolant level
Check that the coolant level is between the
“FULL” and “LOW” marks on the surge tank.

Drive belt
Check the belt for proper deflection when a
force of 22 lb (98 N) is applied to the point mid-
way between the pulleys. Tighten it if neces-
sary.
Check the belt for nicks or other damage.
Replace it if necessary.

Engine oil level
Check the engine oil level using either the dip-
stick or the low oil level switch.

Coolant, fuel, and oil leaks
Check beneath the vehicle for any sign of
leakage.
