4. Insert the tip of the grease gun into the small, flush miniature fitting on
the X-axis bearing housing (see illustration below).
5. Pump the grease gun handle three times, or until the bearing is full. The
bearing is full when grease starts oozing from the upper center of the
bearing housing.
6. Wipe off any excess grease.
Step 2—Grease the Rear X-axis Bearing on the 8000
1. Move the head to the right front corner of the envelope.
2. Access the rear of the head carriage assembly and insert the tip of the
grease gun in the small, flush miniature fitting in the rear bearing hous-
ing (see illustration below).
3. Pump the grease gun handle three times, or until the bearing is full. The
bearing is full when grease starts exiting the upper center of the bearing
housing.
4. Wipe away any excess grease.
5. Reset the temperatures on the Watlows.
