V. Health Hazard Data:
Identification The concentrated product is a white,
granular and beaded material. Causes eye
and skin burns. Reacts with moisture to
release heat and reacts with metals to release
hydrogen.
Threshold Limit Value: No established value.
Eye Contact: Intense irritation and burns to the eyelids.
Skin Contact: Irritation and burns, reddening and swelling
of the skin. Upon contact with the product
in solution, the skin becomes soapy to the
touch.
Inhalation: Inhalation of dusts causes burns of the nasal
passage, irritation of the respiratory tract
and gastrointestinal damage if prolonged
exposure occurs.
Ingestion: Intense irritation and burns to the mouth,
throat, esophagus and stomach.
VI. First Aid Measures
Swallowing: In all cases, call a physician immediately.
Request ambulance transport to nearest
hospital.
Skin Contact and Absorption: Wash skin off immediately with copious
amounts of water until “soapy” feel is gone.
Continue irrigation and seek medical
attention if irritation persists.
Inhalation: Remove individual from area of exposure to
fresh air, support breathing as necessary.
Seek immediate medical attention.
Eye Contact: Immediately flush eyes with flowing water
for at least 15 minutes. Lift eyelids to insure
the flushing of entire surface and the
underside of lids. Seek immediate medical
attention.
