1. Remove the grease discharge plug from the casing.
2. Use a grease gun to replenish through the grease ttings for the internal cover and the motor ange bracket, using
the quantities of grease shown on Page 50, Table 8-19 as guidelines. If a grease tting has a metal cap, remove
the cap before replenishing. After replenishing replace the metal cap.
Note: Grease tting is normally installed on the high speed end shield (for reducers) or motor ange (for
gearmotors). In the event there is additional piping in between the grease tting and high speed end shield/motor
ange, consider replenishing up to 50% additional grease for the rst time replenishment only..
3. Replace the grease discharge plug.

Grease while the unit is running to improve grease distribution.
In addition to being used for discharging grease, the grease discharge plug also functions as
a pressure vent when replenishing grease. Make sure to remove when replenishing.
Replenish grease slowly.
Replenishing more than the quantity shown in Table 8-19 may cause agitation heat, which
raises the temperature, and may cause grease to leak into the motor unit.
Grease may ooze out of the grease tting after starting the machine. In such a case replace
the grease tting with one that has a metal cap.
Be careful when handling the metal cap for the grease tting as dropping it from a high
place is dangerous.
Contact the nearest authorized service station when change or overhaul is required for
grease lubricated units.
NOTE: Normally oil-lubricated units can be grease lubricated, either per customer’s request or applications demand.
Consult factory when grease lubrication is required for normally oil lubricated units.
NOTE: Units considered as maintenance-free will require grease replenishment when operating at ambient conditions outside standard (refer to Section 4.1)
or for applications which require specialty greases (i.e., food grade applications).
