Auxiliary Hydraulic Pump
Operation
The auxiliary pump unit (APU) can be used to operate
hydraulic functions when the truck engine is not running.
This allows body, boom, and hose reel functions to be
operated in maintenance situations or in situations in
which the truck engine cannot be started. The APU does
not allow the water pump to be operated when using this
function.
The auxiliary hydraulic pump is powered by the truck
battery. Do not operate the auxiliary pump for
extended periods of time to avoid draining the
battery.
To operate the auxiliary hydraulic pump feature,
perform the following:
1. Turn the truck ignition to the on position (engine NOT
running).
2. Select WORK MODE on the cab control panel.
3. Follow the operation instructions for hydraulic
functions as outlined in this manual.
The auxiliary hydraulic pump has an operational duty
cycle of approximately 30 to 45 seconds. After 30 to 45
seconds of continuous operation, the pump will stop and
the front control panel HMI screen will display the
“BACKUP HPU Cool Down Cycle” message. The pump
will not function until there has been sufficient time for the
pump to cool and the “Cool Down Cycle” message is no
longer displayed on the HMI screen.
