Running Patient Samples
There are three modes of analysis on the SP-series analyzer.
Manual (micro) mode: Samples are analyzed individually following manual mixing and removal
of the cap, using the micro collection sample tube holder. Sample must be registered manually
before processing. NOTE: Not available as standard. Must be configured.
Manual (closed) mode: Samples are placed in a rack with caps on following manual mixing.
Samples must be registered manually before processing.
Sampler mode: Samples to be processed through the auto sampler must be barcode labelled.
The auto sampler allows samples to automatically analyzed without removing the caps. Samples
will automatically mix, aspirate and analyzed.
On standalone systems the sampler can hold up to 5 racks at a time. On tracked analyzers racks
will be automatically sent to the SP series analyzers in smear preparation is required.

modes. Samples can be smeared and stained [Smr+Sta], smear only [Smr], stain only [Sta] or print
[Print] on glass only. To perform a manual smear it is necessary to manual request the mode,
sample number, smear level, slide selection and slide number.
Ensure the analyzer status is ‘READY’ and press [manual] icon from main menu.
