To align the bottom of the hang-down wire:
1. Press the FURNACE key to raise the
furnace just to the bottom of the sample pan,
and press STOP.
2. Check the alignment of the sample pan
within the furnace. It should hang freely,
roughly centered, and should not be touch-
ing the sides of the furnace or the thermo-
couple tube (Figure 2.18).
3. If the sample pan is not centered and hang-
ing freely within the furnace, level the TGA
instrument by adjusting the feet on the
bottom. Turn the feet clockwise to lengthen
or counterclockwise to shorten the legs.
Continue adjusting until the pan hangs
correctly.
