Power-Up
Checks
The
instrument
does
power
-
up
checks
when
first
turn
ed
on.
These
checks
provide
the
user
wi
th
a
means
to
verify
that
the
instrument
is fully
func
-
tional.
Normally
,
no
faults
are
found
during
the
ch
ec
ks ,
and
the
instrument
will
enter
the
normal
ope
rat
ing
mode
. If a
power
-
up
check
fails,
the
in-
s
trument
displays
the
"
CONT
ACT
SERVICE "
me
s
sage
on
the
display.
Repackaging
If t
he
instrument
is shi
pped
by
commercial
trans-
por
tation
,
use
the
or
iginal
pac
kaging
mater
ial. If
the original
packag
ing
cannot
be
used
,
repackage
the
instrument
as follows :
1.
Obtain
a
corrugated
cardboard
shipping
car
-
ton
having inside
dimensions
at
least
six
inches
greater
than
the
instrument
.
The
car
-
ton
test
strength
should
be
at
least
200
pounds
.
2. If
the
package
is
being
shipped
to
a
Tektron
ix
Factory
Service
Center
for
Warranty
serv
i
ce
,
attach
a
tag
to
the
instrument
showing
the
followi
ng:
owner
of
the
instrument
(with
ad-
dress)
,
the
name
of a
person
who
can
be
contacted
,
the
complete
instrument
type
and
ser
i
al
number
,
and
a
description
of
the
serv
-
ice
required.
3.
Wrap
the
instrument
with
polyethylene
sheet
-
ing
or
equivalent
to
protect
the
outside
finish
and
to
prevent
packing
materials
from
gett
i
ng
i
nto
the
instrument
.
4. Cushion
the
instrument
on all sides
by
using
pack
i
ng
material
or
urethane
foam
between
the
carton
and
the
instrument
. Allow
three
inches
of
packing
material
on all sides .
5. Seal
the
carton
with
shippi
ng
tape
or
with
an
i
ndustrial
stapler
.
6.
Mark
the
address
of
the
Tektronix
Service
Center
and
the
return
address
on
the
carton
.

signal).

Capacitively
couples
signals
to
the
verti-
cal
deflection
system.
