Option Description
Select SSID
YourServiceSetIdentifier(SSID),setsyourWirelessNetworkName.
YoucanconnectmultipledevicesincludingLaptops,DesktopPCsand
PDAstoyourWirelessGateway.Toconnectadditionaldevices,scanfor
anetworkandlocatetheSSIDshownonyourWirelessSecurityCard.If
theSSIDdoesnotmatch,accessisdenied.
Network Authentication
Thisoptionisusedforauthenticationtothewirelessnetwork.Each
authenticationtypehasitsownsettings.Forexample,selecting
802.1XauthenticationwillrevealtheRADIUSServerIPaddress,Port
andkeyfields.
WEP Encryption
Thisoptionindicateswhetherdatasentoverthenetworkisencrypted.
Thesamenetworkkeyisusedfordataencryptionandnetwork
authentication.Whilstfournetworkkeyscanbedefined,onlyonecan
beusedatanyonetime.
Encryption Strength
Thisdrop-downlistboxwilldisplaywhenWEPEncryptionisenabled.
Thekeystrengthisproportionaltothenumberofbinarybits
comprisingthekey.Thismeansthatkeyswithagreaternumberofbits
haveagreaterdegreeofsecurityandareconsiderablymoredifficult
tocrack.Encryptionstrengthcanbesettoeither64-bitor128-bit.A64-
bitkeyisequivalentto5ASCIIcharactersor10hexadecimalnumbers.
A128-bitkeycontains13ASCIIcharactersor26hexadecimalnumbers.
