Torque Wrench Extensions
In some applications, a standard torque wrench and socket cannot be fitted to the bolt (s)
to be tightened because of restricted access. In other instances, the torque value specified
cannot be obtained because sufficient force cannot be applied to the standard length
wrench. Both of these problems may be solved by the use of appropriate torque wrench
extensions - either commercially made or fabricated by the user.
When using an extension, it must be remembered that the wrench torque (the actual torque
reading or setting of the wrench) and the wrench force (the force applied to the wrench)
must be adjusted to compensate for the added length and produce the desired bolt torque.
