Remote Evaporator Installation

1. See Safety Section regarding holding charge precautions. DO NOT release the holding charge until
necessary to prevent moisture from entering the system.
2. The roof/ceiling of the vehicle or cargo box must be able to safely support the weight of the evaporator.
Additional supports (installer supplied) may be required. Unit weights can be found in the product
brochures.
Evaporator must be installed to allow for best air distribution.
Standard evaporator must be installed a minimum distance of 6.00 in. (152 mm) measured from the cargo wall
(bulkhead) to the rear of the evaporator. This distance is required to allow for refrigerant and drain hose
connections.
Some evaporators include an accumulator assembly. They evaporators must be installed a minimum distance of
6.00 in. (152mm) measured from the cargo wall (bulkhead) to the rear of the accumulator. This distance is required
to allow for refrigerant and drain hose connections.
Evaporators must be installed securely to steel support plates pre-installed in the cargo box ceiling by the body
builder or by using long bolts with backer plates (installer supplied) down through the roof of the cargo box. Refer
to (“Evaporator Installation with Pre-Installed Support Plates,” p. 32) and (“Evaporator Installation without Support
Plates,” p. 33).
