Beforeyoustart,printtheseinstructions.
Onlyasystemadministratorcanset,change,orremoveasupervisorpassword.Toset,change,orremovea
supervisorpassword,dothefollowing:
1.Turnoffyourcomputer.Waitforaboutfiveseconds,andthenturnonthecomputeragain.
2.Whenthelogoscreenisdisplayed,pressF1tostarttheThinkPadSetupprogram.
3.SelectSecurity➙Password➙SupervisorPasswordbyusingthedirectionalkeys.
4.Dependingonyourneeds,dooneofthefollowing:
•Tosetapassword,dothefollowing:
a.IntheEnterNewPasswordfield,typeadesiredpasswordandpressEnter.
b.IntheConfirmNewPasswordfield,retypethepasswordandpressEnter.
•Tochangeapassword,dothefollowing:
a.IntheEnterCurrentPasswordfield,typethecurrentsupervisorpasswordandpressEnter.
b.IntheEnterNewPasswordfield,typethenewsupervisorpasswordandpressEnter;thenretype
thepasswordintheConfirmNewPasswordfieldandpressEnter.
•Toremoveapassword,dothefollowing:
a.IntheEnterCurrentPasswordfield,typethecurrentsupervisorpasswordandpressEnter.
b.LeavetheEnterNewPasswordandConfirmNewPasswordfieldsblank.PressEntertwice.
5.ASetupNoticewindowisdisplayed.PressEntertocontinue.
6.PressF10.ASetupConfirmationwindowisdisplayed.SelectYestosavetheconfigurationchanges
andexit.
Note:Youmightwanttorecordyourpasswordandstoreitinasafeplace.Thenexttimeyouopenthe
ThinkPadSetupprogram,youwillbepromptedtotypeyoursupervisorpasswordtoproceed.Ifyouforget
yoursupervisorpassword,Lenovocannotresetyourpassword.YoumusttakeyourcomputertoaLenovo
reselleroraLenovomarketingrepresentativetohavethesystemboardreplaced.Proofofpurchaseis
required,andafeewillbechargedforpartsandservice.
