Ifyoucannotturnoffyourcomputerbypressingandholdingthepowerswitch,removeallsources
ofpowerfromthecomputerandresetthesystembyinsertingastraightenedpaperclipintothe
emergency-resethole.Afterthecomputerisoff,restartthecomputerbypressingthepowerbutton.
Ifthecomputerdoesnotturnon,continuewithstep2.
2.Whilethecomputerisoff,removeallsourcesofpowerfromthecomputerandresetthesystemby
insertingastraightenedpaperclipintotheemergency-resethole.Thenholddownthepowerbuttonfor
10seconds.Reattachtheacpoweradapter.Ifthecomputerdoesnotturnbackon,continuewithstep3.
Note:Ifthecomputerstartswithacpowerbutdoesnotstartwhenacpowerisremoved,callthe
CustomerSupportCenterforsupport.
3.Whilethecomputerisoff,removeallexternaldevicesthatareattachedtoyourcomputer(keyboard,
mouse,printer,scanner,andsoon).Repeatstep2.Ifstep2isunsuccessful,continuewithstep4.
Note:Thefollowingstepsinvolveremovingstaticsensitivecomponentsfromyourcomputer.Ensure
thatyouareproperlygroundedandremoveallsourcesofpowerattachedtothecomputer.Ifyouare
uncomfortableorunsureaboutremovingcomponents,calltheCustomerSupportCenterforassistance.
4.Whilethecomputerisoff,removeallsourcesofpowerandexternalhardwareandresetthecomputer
byinsertingastraightenedpaperclipintotheemergency-resethole.Thenremoveanynon-original
memorymoduleaddedtoyourcomputer.Afterremovingtheextramemorymoduleandreinstallingthe
originalmemorymodule,repeatstep2.Ifthecomputerstilldoesnotturnon,consulttheusermanual
forothercustomer-replaceablecomponentsthatareattachedtoyourcomputer.
Ifthecomputerstilldoesnotstartup,calltheCustomerSupportCenterandaCustomerSupportSpecialist
willassistyou.
Spillsonthekeyboard
Withamobilecomputer,thereareincreasedchancesofspillingliquidsonthekeyboard.Becausemost
liquidsconductelectricity,liquidspilledonthekeyboardcouldcreatenumerousshortcircuits,potentially
causingirreparabledamagetoyourcomputer.
Ifyouspillsomethingonyourcomputer:
Attention:Ensurethatnoliquidcreatesashortcircuitbetweenyouandtheacpoweradapter(ifinuse).
Althoughyoumightlosesomedataorworkbyturningoffthecomputerimmediately,leavingthecomputer
onmightmakeyourcomputerunusable.
1.Carefullyunplugtheacpoweradapterimmediately.
2.Turnoffthecomputerimmediately.Themorequicklyyoustopthecurrentfrompassingthroughthe
computerthemorelikelyyouwillreducedamagefromshortcircuits.
3.Waituntilyouarecertainthatalltheliquidisdrybeforeturningonyourcomputer.
Note:Ifyouwanttoreplaceyourkeyboard,youcanpurchaseanewone.
Errormessages
Message:0251:SystemCMOSchecksumbad.
Solution:ThesystemCMOSmighthavebeencorruptedbyanapplicationprogram.Thecomputeruses
thedefaultsettings.RunThinkPadSetuptoreconfigurethesettings.Ifyoustillseethesameerrorcode,
havethecomputerserviced.
Message:0253:EFIVariableBlockDatawasdestroyed.
Solution:ThesystemEFIVariableBlockDatamighthavebeencorrupted.
