1.Removethewingnuts,washers,andbatteryclamp
andliftoutthebattery.
Important:Donotaddelectrolytewhilethe
batteryisinthemachine.Youcouldspillit,
causingcorrosion.
2.Cleanthetopofthebatteryandremovethevent
caps(Figure3).

3.Carefullylleachcellwithelectrolyteuntiltheplates
arecoveredwithabout1/4inch(6mm)ofuid
(Figure4).

4.Allowapproximately20to30minutesforthe
electrolytetosoakintotheplates.Fillasnecessary
tobringtheelectrolytetowithinabout1/4inch(6
mm)ofthebottomofthellwell(Figure4).
5.Connecta2to4ampbatterychargertothebattery
posts.Chargethebatteryfor2hoursat4ampsor
for4hoursat2ampsuntilthespecicgravityis
1.250orhigherandthetemperatureisatleast60°F
(16°C)withallcellsgassingfreely.
Chargingthebatteryproducesgassesthatcan
explode.
Neversmokenearthebatteryandkeepsparks
andamesawayfrombattery.
6.Whenthebatteryischarged,disconnectthecharger
fromtheelectricaloutletandbatteryposts.
Note:Afterthebatteryhasbeenactivated,add
onlydistilledwatertoreplacenormalloss,although
maintenance-freebatteriesshouldnotrequirewater
undernormaloperatingconditions.
