AdjustingtheMowingSpeed
Themachineisadjustedatthefactory,butspeedmay
bevariedifdesired.

AdjustingtheBrakes
Abrakeadjustmentrodislocatedoneachsideofthe
machinesothatthebrakescanbeequallyadjusted.
Adjustthebrakesasfollows:
1.Whilemovingforwardintransportspeed,pressthe
brakepedal;bothwheelsshouldlockequally.
Testingthebrakesinaconnedareawhere
othersarepresentcouldcauseinjury.
Alwayscheckthebrakesinawide,open-spaced,
atareawhichisfreeofotherpersonsand
obstructionsbeforeandafteradjustment.
2.Ifthebrakesdonotlockequally,disconnectthe
brakerodsbyremovingthecotterpinandclevispin
(Figure57).

1/2to1inch(13to26mm)travelbeforethebrake
shoesmakecontactwiththebrakedrums.Adjust,if
necessary,toachievethissetting.
6.Whilemovingforwardintransportspeed,pressthe
brakepedal;bothbrakesshouldlockequally.Adjust,
ifnecessary.
7.Itisrecommendedthatthebrakesbeburnished
annually;refertotheBreak-InPeriodsection.
