PreventingTipOvers

belts,andhandhold.TheROPSsystem(RolloverProtection
System)usedonthemachinewillreducetheriskofserious
orfatalinjuryintheunlikelyeventofatipover,althoughthe
systemcannotprotecttheoperatorfromallpossibleinjuries.
ReplaceadamagedROPS,donotrepairit.Anyalterationof
theROPSmustbeapprovedbythemanufacturer.
Thebestwaytopreventaccidentsinvolvingutilitymachines
isthroughcontinuoussupervisionandtrainingofoperators
andpayingconstantattentiontotheareainwhichmachine
isbeingoperated.
Thebestwayforoperatorstopreventseriousinjuryordeath
tothemselvesorothers,istofamiliarizethemselveswiththe
properoperationoftheutilitymachine,tostayalertandto
avoidactionsorconditionswhichcouldresultinaaccident.
Intheeventofatipover,theriskofseriousinjuryordeath
willbereducediftheoperatorisusingtheROPSsystemand
seatbeltsandisfollowingtheinstructionsprovided.
OperatingtheMachineonHills
WARNING
Tippingorrollingthemachineonahillwillcause
seriouspersonalinjury.
Donotoperatethemachineonsteepslopes.
Ifenginestallsoryouloseheadwayonahill,
neverattempttoturnmachinearound.
AlwaysbackstraightdownahillinReverse.
NeverbackdowninNeutralusingonlythe
brakes.
Neverdriveacrossasteephill,alwaysdrive
straightupordown.
Avoidturningonahill.
Don’tslamonthebrakes.Asuddenspeed
changecaninitiateatipover.
Useextracarewhenonhills.Nevergoonhillsthatare
extremelysteep.Stoppingwhilegoingdownahillwilltake
longerthanonlevelground.Turningwhilegoingupor
downahillismoredangerousthanturningonthelevel.
Makingturnswhilegoingdownhill,especiallywiththebrakes
on,andturninguphillwhiletraversingahillareparticularly
dangerous.Evenataslowspeedandwithoutaload,tipovers
aremorelikelyifyouturnonahill.
Ifyouhavetoturnwhileonahill,doitasslowlyand
cautiouslyaspossible.Nevermakesharporfastturnsona
hill.
Ifyoustallorbegintoloseheadwaywhileclimbingasteep
hill,quicklyapplythebrakes,shifttoNeutral,restartthe
engineandshifttoReverse.
Reducetheweightoftheloadifitisasteephilloriftheload
hashighcenterofgravity.Remember,loadscanshift,so
securethem.
Note:Themachinehasexcellenthill-climbingability.The
differentiallockwillincreasethisability.Hillclimbingtraction
canalsobeincreasedbyaddingweighttotherearofthe
machineinoneofthefollowingways:
Addingweighttoinsideofbox,makingsurethatitis
secured
Mountingwheelweightstorearwheels
Addingliquidballast(calciumchloride)toreartires
Nothavingapassengerinthefrontseat
