1. Choose a desired location for the probe. Assure that probe holes
are located within cable length of the logging unit.
2. Drill a hole into the ground with the auger held as straight as
possible. After you have drilled about 20 cm, extract the auger
from the hole.

CAUTION
Do not use a hammer to pound the auger into ground.
3. Remove soil from the auger, for example with a screwdriver.
Refer to Figure 79 below.
WARNING
Do not use fingers to clean the auger. The edges are sharp.
