Cleaning the heat exchanger
73 Remove heat exchanger
• Slide the heat exchanger out of the hous-
ing.
• At the M4.56 and M4.55 SOLAS the heat ex-
changer must be slide out of the housing to
the front, instead of to the rear.
Therefore loosen the bolts of the alternator,
remove the V-belt and turn the alternator
outwards.
74 Cleaning the heat exchanger
• Clean the heat exchanger: Use a pipe clean-
er to remove fouling in the pipes.
• Then rinse the heat exchanger pipes with
clean water.
• Ensure that both heat exchanger end
chambers are free from dirt.
