9 Description of "Site archive" Features
This chapter provides basic information on recording modes and the methods of their control. Refer to
descriptions of the setup dialogs in the CamControl LITE and CamControl PRO software online guides.
9.1 Storage Concept
ipVG allows digital recording of up to 4/10 camera signals. The multitrack recording process developed by
HeiTel allows the storage medium capacity and the recording method to be adjusted individually for each
camera.
Advantages of the multi-track recording process
l The storage medium capacity is used optimally.
l The recording period is specified for each individual camera track.
l The logical division of the storage medium prevents mutual overwriting of archived image data.
l For event-triggered recording pre-alarm and post-alarm sequences can be recorded for individual events.
l An optional warning by relay is issued when the adjustable storage warning threshold is reached.
l Each camera track can be configured with overwrite protection on overrun, or for automatic overwriting.
Camera tracks
The ipVG storage medium is divided into 4/10 camera tracks. This allows you to specify the storage space for
each individual camera track. Storage capacity is displayed in GB.
The illustration shows identical partitioning (factory setting) for each of the four camera tracks of a ipVG hard
disk. The required storage capacity is based on average picture size, recording mode, recording speed, and
recording duration. Set the partition size using the sliding bar. No images are recorded on a camera track when
the storage capacity is set to 0%. If the total size of all tracks is less than 100% or exceeds 100%, an error
message is displayed.
Note: The archive is reformatted when the track storage capacity is changed. All images recorded up to
this point will be irretrievably deleted.
FIFO
ipVG uses FIFO (First In First Out) for recording. The oldest images or events will be overwritten with new
recordings after a certain period of time. Storage medium partitioning into 4 camera tracks prevents recorded
images from being overwritten by data from other cameras.
