7 Device Reset
The following methods allow you to revert to ipVG factory settings.
Using Software
To reset ipVG back to factory settings, go to Device Setup interface ā select "Extras", the following image
appears:
Setting options (under Device reset):
l Nothing selected: by using the Apply and reboot device button, ipVG will only reboot, without any setting
changes.
l Load factory settings: by using the Apply and reboot device button, ipVG will reboot and all settings will be
reset to default.
l Load factory settings and keep connection settings: by using the Apply and reboot device button, ipVG
will reboot and settings will be reset to default, except the following:
o
Baudrate for external Modem / ISDN-adapter
o
Modem-string for external Modem / ISDN-adapter
o
MSN of internal ISDN-adapter
o
IP address, Subnetmask, Gateway and Port of TCP/IP connection
o
DNS entry
o
All alarm numbers, included the fifth for HT-connect
o
HT-connect port and HT-connect configuration
l Keep site archive settings: archive settings remain unchanged.
Using Hardware
The reset using hardware has three options which are described below:
l Full device reset
l Reset only the usernames and passwords
l Reset the transmitter setup without clearing the archive and the archive settings
Full device reset
Through this option, you can perform a full reset for the device and reactivate the factory settings. All settings,
including usernames and passwords are deleted.
Note: All recordings are deleted. The storage medium is formatted after the device restart.
To reset the device, follow these steps:
1. Switch the ipVG off,
2. Connect a 9 pin Sub-D socket with pin 2 connected to pin 3, and pin 7 connected to pin 8,
3. Connect this reset socket to the RS-232 interface, refer to item 11 in "Rear View and Description" on
page 19,
4. Switch the ipVG unit on and wait until the LED Power on the front starts flashing,
5. Remove the reset socket, the ipVG restarts automatically.
ipVG will be ready again as soon as the device reset and reinitialization processes are complete.
