Example 4: Same Altitude for Multiple Aircraft
If two aircraft are at the same
altitude, range will be used to
prioritize. If the range is also the
same, the vertical trend will be
used to prioritize. XRX tracks this
over time and can use the trend
to determine that an aircraft
above you and descending is a
greater threat than one
ascending.
This situation, the aircraft to our
left is 500 ft. above us and
descending, making it the
primary threat. The other aircraft
is climbing posing little or no
threat. Situations like this
commonly occur in heavy traffic
environments, like airports,
especially when doing pattern
work.
