WhenaPErouterdetectsthataLSAisalreadymarkedasdownbit,thePEwillnot
participateintheOSPFroutecalculation.WhenOSPFroutesareredistributedtoBGP ,
theLSAswithdownbitarenotredistributedtobeBGProute.
max-metric
Consideringtherequirementsfortrafcmanagementandsoon,someroutersneedtoact
astheterminalratherthantransitpointsoftheroute.Inordertoaddthenodeswithoutthe
capabilityoftraversingtothenetwork,themax-metricfunctionisused.
Forexample,arouterjustrestarts,andBGProutedoesnotconverge,usethemax-metric
router-lsaon-startupwait-for-bgpcommandtoavoidrouteblackhole.
3.2ConguringtheOSPFProtocol
EnablingtheOSPFProtocol
ToenabletheOpenShortestPathFirst(OSPF)protocolonroutersandmakethemlearn
routesbetweeneachotherbyusingtheOSPFprotocol,performthefollowingsteps:

anIPaddressonarouter,the
interface(withIPaddresses)
cannotbeselectedasthe
addressoftheOSPFrouter.
Toobtainanaddressasthe
routerID,youcancongurean
interfaceaddressorcongure
arouterIDmanually.Afteryou
congurearouterID,clearthe
OSPFprocess.

Setsaninterfacetorunthe
OSPFprotocol,andsetsan
areaIDfortheinterface.
Iftheareadoesnotexist,the
systemcreatesitautomatically.
