Troubleshooting Table
“Sample Did
Not Freeze”;
“Sample
Freeze Error”
Poor or no freeze “buzz”
1. Check for debris in the
magnetic gap between
the clapper and coil
(see figure 8).
2. The stir/freeze wire
must be firmly held
in the clapper by both
mounting screws (see
figure 8).
3. Check the stir/freeze
wire alignment (see
figure 11).
4. Check the stir/freeze
amplitude (see Chapter
5, Section H.6).
5. The stir wire may be
fatigued (too ductile).
6. Does the clapper and/
or stir wire coil show
excessive wear?
a. Clean all debris from
the magnetic gap.
b. Tighten both stir/freeze
mounting screws firmly
(see figure 8).
c. Correct the stir/freeze
wire alignment as nec-
essary (see Chapter 5,
Section G).
d. Correct the stir/freeze
amplitude as ncessary
(see Chapter 5, Section
H.6).
e. Replace, align, and
adjust the stir/freeze
wire (see Chapter 5 and
figure 11).
f. If the error message
persists, see Chapter 5,
Section C for further
assistance, and possi-
ble replacement of the
yoke, clapper, and coil
by a qualified service
technician.
