Chapter 3 Features and Functions
Frequency Modulation (FM)
3
Modulating Waveform Shape
The waveform generator will accept an internal or external modulation
source for FM.
Modulating waveform shape (internal source): Sine (default), Square,
Pulse, UpRamp,
DnRamp, Triangle, Noise, or PRBS
.
Square has 50% duty cycle
UpRamp has 100% symmetry
Triangle has 50% symmetry
DnRamp has 0% symmetry
Noise - white gaussian noise
PRBS - Pseudo Random Bit Sequence (polynomial PN7)
You can use noise as the modulating waveshape, but you cannot use
noise, arbitrary waveforms, or DC as the carrier waveform.
Front-Panel Operation: After selecting FM, press the Shape softkey.
Remote Interface Operation:
FM:INTernal:FUNCtion
