Step 11. Connect a printer (Optional)
Perform this step if you plan to connect a printer directly to the serial, parallel,
or USB ports that are located on the 86100C rear panel. If you have a parallel
(Centronics) printer, you will need a parallel printer cable, such as an C2950A
(2 m) or C2951A (3 m) cable. If you have a serial printer, you will need a 9-pin
to 25-pin serial printer cable, such as an 34398A cable, plus the 34399A
adapter kit. Some printers may require other cable configurations, but the
86100C has a 9-pin serial connector.
• Attach the required parallel or serial printer cable between your printer and the
86100C’s rear-panel connector.

Support for printers with Plug and Play support will automatically be installed
when the instrument is first turned on. For other printers, use the Add Printer
Wizard from the Windows XP desktop. From the Windows Start menu, click
Printers and Faxes > Add a printer.
