How to Make and Interpret SRL Measurements
Connector Model for Long Cables
If a long cable is being measured, you can use the “Measure Connector”
feature to automatically determine the L and C values. (A long cable is
defined as approximately ≥300 m (1000 ft)).
1. Figure 4-6 shows an SRL and fault location response measurement
with no connector model applied. The upward slope indicates the
possibility that a poor quality or worn out connector is being used.

2. Press the softkey and follow the instructions
on the analyzer's display.
3. The analyzer will automatically compute the optimum values of
connector length and connector C, and then update the SRL and fault
location response, as in Figure 4-7.
