Characterizing and Verifying Antenna Systems
Antenna Feedline System
Antenna Feedline System
Figure 6-1 Typical Cell Site
A typical cell site contains many pieces of hardware. These may include, but are not
limited to:
racks of radios
combiners
coaxial feedline
tower-mounted amplifiers
lightning protection devices
filters
antennas
These may operate at multiple cellular, personal communication system (PCS), and
microwave frequencies.
The components of the cell site that lie between the transmitting/receiving ports
(radios) up to and including the antenna are commonly referred to as the “antenna
system.” Those components between the antenna and the radio ports are referred to
as the “antenna feedline system.”
