Operation
6.1.6 Checking the sen se of rotation
If the correct sense of rotation has already been determined
when the pum p is spinning, it is no longer necessary to check
the sense of rotation.
In the standard conguratio n, the pump is rotates counter-
clockwise, viewed from the drive side onto the shaft.
The pump rotates clockwise in s peci al operating con di-
tions, for example, when extracting from a vacuum or con-
veying media that do not tolerate gas inclusion s.
DANGER
Risk of death due to rotating parts!
Use personal protective equipment when carrying out any
work on the p ump.
Keep an adequate distance to rotating parts.
NOTE
Material damage caused by dry running!
Make sure the pump is lled properly.
1. For p ump with coupling, proceed as follows:
Remove safety guarding.
Uncouple the pump.
2. Identify the sense of rotation on the nameplate.
3. Switch the motor on and immediately off again.
4. Check whether the motor’s sen se of rotation is the same
as that on the nameplate.
5. If the sense of rotation is different: swap two phases.
6. For p ump with coupling, proceed as follows:
Couple the pump.
Install the safety guardin g.
6.2 Start-up
6.2.1 Switching on
Pump unit set up and connected properly
All connections stress-free and sealed
All safety equipment in stalled and teste d for f unctionality
Any available auxiliary sys
tems are ready for operation
Pump correctly prepared and lled
DANGER
Risk of injury due to running pump or hot pump parts!
Do not t ouch t
he running pump.
Ensure that the safety guarding is attached.
Do not carry out any work on the running pump.
Allow th
e pump to cool down completely before starting any
work.
DANGER
Risk of injury and poisoning due to pumped liquid spray-
ing out!
Use protective equipment when carrying out any work on
the pump.
NOTE
Risk of cavitation when throttling down the suction ow
rate!
Fully open the s uction-side armature and do n ot use it to
adjust the ow rate.
Do not open th e pressure-side tting beyond the operating
point.
NOTE
Material damage due to excessive pressure!
Do not operate the pump while the pressure-side tting is
closed.
NOTE
Material damage caused by dry running!
Make sure the pump is lled properly.
1. Open the pressure-side tting.
2. Open the suction-si de tting.
3. Switch on the motor and make sure it is running smoothly.
4. As soon as the m otor has reached operatin g speed, deter-
mine the f ollowing parameters on the display xtures and
compare them with t he order data sheet or acceptance test
report:
Inlet pre ssure and pump end pressure
Temperature and viscosity of the medium
5. After the rst load under pressure and at operating temper-
ature, check tha t the p ump is not leaki ng.
6. If presen t, ensure the correct operating parameters of cool-
ing and heating systems.
6.2.2 Switching off
WARNING
Risk of injury due to hot pump parts!
Use protective equipment when carrying out any work on
the pump.
1. Switch off the motor.
2. After initial start-up: Check all tie bolts and retighten them
if necessary.
