  If the LCD screen on your AMG Microscope is black, ensure the power supply is connected and the power switch is on. Also, click the LIGHT ON button on the screen. Check that the objective selection wheel allows light to pass through the objective, and confirm that the phase annuli selector on the condenser is not stuck between settings. Finally, center the specimen over the objective.

  If you're seeing red on the LCD screen, or red patches covering parts of the screen of your AMG Microscope, try dimming the illumination to eliminate the red highlights and achieve maximum brightness without overexposure. Alternatively, you can disable the “Highlight saturated pixels in red” option in the Settings.

  If the transmitted light image is too dim at higher magnifications on your AMG Microscope, set the phase annuli selector to the BF position. Also, remove the condenser slider and light shield box, if either are in place.

  If you're having trouble focusing on a coverslipped specimen on a standard slide with your AMG Microscope, place the slide so the coverslip is facing up. Long working-distance objectives require a thick optical substrate and image best through 1.0 - 1.5 mm of glass or plastic.
