3.6 Lubrication and maintenance operations
3.6.12 Check of the fan and engine belt for
condition
Fan wear check
Check the fan visually. Replace the fan if damaged (e.g. missing
parts of materials, cracks, shape changes, etc.).

Belt tension check
Push your thumb with 110N (25lb) force where the belt length
between pulleys is the longest. The max. slack (A) is 7–9mm
(0.28–0.35in).
Tighten the belt (1) by loosening the screws (2) and shifting the
alternator (3) if required.
Check the belt for correct tension.
Belt wear check
Visually inspect the belt.
Cracks perpendicular to the belt width are not considered to
be afault. If longitudinal cracks appear on the belt, or the belt
edges are ragged, or some material parts are pulled o, then the
belt must be replaced.
3.6.11 Engine leakage check
Visually check the engine and the engine compartment for oil
leakage.
Remove the identied defects.
