Caller ID operation
Using the telephone base:
1. Select a desired entry in the caller ID log (see Review the caller ID log on
page 100).
2. When the desired entry appears, press SAVE.
3. Press SELECT to select Directory. The telephone base displays
EDIT NUMBER.
4. Use the dialing keys to edit the number.
f Press qCALLER ID or pDIRECTORY to move the cursor to the left or right.
f Press X/DELETE or BACKSP to backspace and erase a digit.
f Press and hold X/DELETE to erase the entire entry.
f Press and hold REDIAL/PAUSE to insert a dialing pause (a p appears).
5. Press NEXT.
6. Press qCALLER ID or pDIRECTORY to highlight one of the following types:
f Home
f Cell
f Work
f Other
7. Press NEXT. The telephone base displays EDIT NAME.
8. Use the dialing keys (page 90) to edit the name.
f Press qCALLER ID or pDIRECTORY to move the cursor to the left or right.
f Press 0 to add a space.
f Press X/DELETE or BACKSP to erase a character.
f Press and hold X/DELETE to erase all characters.
f Press # (pound key) to move the last word to the front. For example,
Johnson Charlie becomes Charlie Johnson when you press # (pound key).
9. Press SAVE to conrm. The telephone base shows Saved to directory.
Notes:
f If the caller’s name you received from the telephone service provider is all in capital letters, the first letter of every
word remains a capital letter, while other letters become lower case. However, the next letter after the prefix “Mac”,
“Mc”, “D’”, “C’” or “O’”, is kept as a capital letter. For example, the “D” in “MacDonald” is kept as a capital letter. Another
exception is that “VAN DER” will be changed to “Van der”.
f If the telephone number from the caller ID information has already been saved in the directory under a different
name, the new name will overwrite the old one.
f If you save a block number in the caller ID log to the directory, the original name from the caller ID information will be
saved.
