STbench top plate
The STbench top plate holds hydraulic brakes and/or static torque transducers.
The hydraulic brakes simulate the behavior of a real joint, reproducing the stiffness from hard to soft.
The number of brakes on the STbench top plate ranges according to customer needs.
The hydraulic brakes make a test to:
■
Power tools (not impulse)
■
Click wrenches
■
Peak tools
Never test pulse tools and impact wrenches on hydraulic brakes. There is the high risk of hydraulic
brake rupture.
Use a suitable adapter to install the power tool / click wrench / peak tool on the hydraulic brake.
The static torque transducers are designed for testing wrenches, click wrenches or for tightening tools
where rotary action is not desired during measurement.
The number of static torque transducers on the STbench top plate ranges according to customer needs.
The static torque transducers can be used to test:
■
Pulse tools without shut-off
■
Pulse tools with shut-off (in case of pulse tools with shut-off mechanism, install a mechanical joint
simulator on the static torque transducer - for more information see "Installing a mechanical joint sim-
ulator in the housing of the static torque transducer")
■
Wrenches
■
Power tools (in case there are no hydraulic brakes available. In this case install a mechanical joint
simulator on the static torque transducer to let the spindle of the power tool rotate - for more informa-
tion see "Installing a mechanical joint simulator in the housing of the static torque transducer")
Never test impact wrenches on static torque transducers. There is the high risk of static torque trans-
ducer rupture.
To make sure that the operator benefits from the full potential power of tools, we recommend to use the
reaction bar during the tightening operations on the STbench.
The reaction bar makes sure a safety measurement both on hydraulic brakes and static torque transduc-
ers.
Use the reaction bar with a diameter equal to 30mm for hydraulic brakes / static torque transducers up to
500Nm.
WARNING Crushing Hazard
Hands may get squeezed during tightening operations through the reaction bar.
► When a reaction bar is used, keep hands away from the reaction bar while tightening a joint.
We recommend to use using the reaction bar for tightening operations over 10 N·m.
Use the reaction bar for tightening operations over 15 N·m.
Pay attention: the reaction point of the tool under test must be under the height of the reaction bar.
