Why is my Axis Security Camera accessible locally but not externally?
    • W
      William PalmerAug 16, 2025
If your Axis Security Camera is accessible on your local network but not externally, check your Internet firewall settings with your system administrator. Also, verify that you have configured the default router settings correctly. If the internet site is too heavily loaded, use a script running on your web server to relay images from the camera to the Internet.

How to fix problems setting the IP address on Axis Security Camera?
    • S
      Sarah CabreraAug 22, 2025
If you're having trouble setting the IP address for your Axis Security Camera, remember that the IP address must be configured within two minutes of powering on the device. Restart the server and try again, ensuring the ping length is set to 408, as detailed in the ARP ping description in the installation section. If the camera is on a different subnet, contact your network administrator for an IP address on the same subnet as your computer. Also, verify that the IP address isn't already in use by disconnecting the power from the camera and using the Ping command. If you receive a reply, another device is using the IP address; obtain a new one and reinstall the camera. If the request times out, the IP address is available; check cabling and reinstall.

Why are there video image problems with my Axis Security Camera?
    • S
      Shelley BerryAug 25, 2025
If you are experiencing video image problems with your Axis Security Camera, there could be several causes. If the image is too dark or too light, consult the help files on Video & Image Settings. If you have problems uploading your own files, remember that there is only limited space available, so try deleting existing files to free up space. Missing images in uploads can occur when trying to use a larger image buffer than available, so try lowering the frame rate or the upload period. Slow image updates or performance can be caused by configuring pre-buffers, high-resolution images, a high frame rate, heavy network traffic, many users accessing the unit, a low-performing client, or the use of features like Event handling or Image rotation.

Why is the power indicator not constantly lit on my Axis Security Camera?
    • H
      Heather KaufmanAug 27, 2025
If the power indicator on your Axis Security Camera is not constantly lit, first verify that you are using the supplied power supply. If the issue persists, a firmware upgrade may have been interrupted or the firmware damaged. In this case, a rescue firmware is running. Set the IP address using AXIS IP utility or ARP and Ping. Then, access the unit from a web browser and upgrade to the latest firmware.

How to send notifications outside local network from Axis Security Camera?
    • G
      George ParsonsAug 31, 2025
If your Axis Security Camera cannot send notifications, uploads, alarms, etc., to a destination outside the local network, the firewall protection may be the cause. The camera can be configured to use a SOCKS server to reach networks on the other side of a firewall/proxy server.

If you are getting bad snapshot images from your Axis Security Camera, configure your display to show at least 65000 colors (16-bit) in Display Properties. Using only 16 or 256 colors on your display will produce dithering artifacts in the image.

What to do if Axis Security Camera cannot be accessed from a Web browser?
    • M
      medinaadamNov 18, 2025
If you cannot access your Axis Security Camera from a web browser, the IP address may have been changed by DHCP. To resolve this: 1. Move the camera to an isolated network or one without a DHCP or BOOTP server and reset the IP address using AXIS IP Utility or the ARP Ping command. 2. Access the unit and disable BOOTP and DHCP in the TCP/IP settings, then return the unit to the main network, giving the unit a fixed IP address that will not change. 3. Alternatively, if a dynamic IP address via DHCP or BOOTP is required, select the required service and configure IP address change notification from the network settings, then return the unit to the main network, so the unit will notify you if the address changes. Also, you can test the network cable by connecting it to another network de...
