IN THE CASE WHERE A LEAKAGE CURRENT PROTECTIVE DEVICE IS USED ON THE INCOMING
POWER SUPPLY, IT MAY TRIP AT POWER-ON OR POWER-OFF DUE TO THE ADDITION OF THE
POWER LINE FILTER. IN ORDER TO AVOID THIS, THE SENSE CURRENT OF PROTECTIVE DEVICE
SHOULD BE SET HIGHER THAN VALUE OF LEAKAGE CURRENT SEEN DURING POWER UP OR
POWER DOWN.
RECOMM
ENDED FILTER INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
To conform to the EMC directive, it is necessary that these instructions be followed as closely as possible.
Follow the usual safety procedures when working with electrical equipment. A qualified electrical technician
must make all electrical connections to the filter, drive and motor.
1) Check the filter rating label to ensure that the current, vol
tage rating and part number are correct.
2) For best results, the filter should
be fitted as closely as possible to the incoming mains suppl
y of the wiring
enclosure, usually directl
y after the enclosure’s circuit breaker or suppl
y switch.
3) The back panel of the wiring cabinet of board shoul
d be prepared for the mounting dimensions of the filte
r. Care
should
be taken to remove any paint etc. from the mounting holes and face area of the panel to
ensure the best
possible grounding of the filter.
4) Mount the
filter securely
.
5) Connect the
mains supply to the filter terminals ma
rked LINE; connect any earth cables to the earth stud
provided. Connect the filter term
inals marked LOAD to the mains input of the dr
ive using short lengths of
appropriate g
a
uge cable.
6) Connect th
e motor and fit the ferrite cores (output chokes) as close to the drive as possible. Arm
oured or shielded
cable should
be used with the 3 phase conductors only threaded twice through the center of the ferrite core.
The
earth conductor shoul
d be securely grounded at both the drive and motor ends. The screen shou
ld be connected to
the enclosure bod
y via a ground
cable gland.
7) Connect any
control cables as instructed in the driv
e instruction manual.
NOTE: IT IS IMPORTANT THAT AL
L LEAD LENGHTS ARE KEPT AS SHORT AS POSSIBLE AND THAT
INCOMING POWER AND OUTGOING MOTOR CABLES ARE KEPT WELL SEPARATED.
