20. Air should not be free-owing from the Smart Reg when the ON/OFF Knob is in the ON posion
unless the Purge Buon is pressed. If air is free-owing, refer to Secon 13.6 on Page 46.
21. Press the Purge Buon to conrm Nomad is on and funconing properly and to conrm water does
not come out of the Mouthpiece or exhaust vents. Air should ow out of the mouthpiece when the
user presses the Purge Buon. If water is coming out of the Smart Reg, refer to Secon 13.4 on
Page 45 for instrucons on clearing Nomad of water. If air is not owing, refer to Secon 14.5 on
Page 51.
Do NOT operate Nomad for more than 20 seconds while out of the water.
22. Place your lips over the outside of the Mouthpiece.
23. Exhale and cauously inhale from the Smart Reg to conrm that Nomad is funconing properly.
Air should ow from the mouthpiece into the user’s mouth upon gentle inhalaon. If air is not owing,
refer to Secon 14.5 on Page 51. Air should easily vent out of the Smart Reg upon exhalaon.
24. Return the Smart Reg knob to the OFF posion unl the user is ready to dive.
25. Use the Startup Checklist in Table 8.6.2 below to conrm that each Pre-Dive Check has been
completed and the unit is funconing properly.
System Inspecon: components intact, in-place, un-damaged and funconal
Smart Reg Knob set to OFF
Baery level is fully, or at least suciently, charged
Baery installed with intake plug removed and connector is ght/waterproof
Startup tone, Smart Reg Knob ON, Nomad is pumping & air ows on inhalaon
Smart Reg Knob OFF unl ready to dive
Dry Bag Float inated and sealed and properly aached to Nomad
Dive Flag, Drip Cap, O-rings and Snorkel Tube properly aached
Dive Harness aached to Air Hose
Hose length between Smart Reg and Dive Harness properly adjusted
Dive Harness adjusted properly for diver and easy to remove quickly if necessary
