9.3.2. Low Baery Warning for the Diver
As Nomad’s Baery gets closer to being fully depleted, Nomad will begin to spuer with small delays in air ow in
the middle of each breath. These small delays will cause a pulsang sensaon that will be noceably dierent from nor-
mal air ow when the baery is fully charged. The pulsang sensaon will become more frequent as the baery becomes
increasingly discharged. When the pulsang sensaon is rst noced, this is a signal that the diver should begin to slowly
ascend to the surface and end the dive. Be cognizant of this low baery warning while diving so that you can make a con-
trolled ascent to the surface prior to Nomad shung o.
9.3 Baery Life
9.3.1. Baery Charge Planning
Nomad’s fully charged baery will provide for about 45 minutes of underwater breathing me, and will result in an
out-of-air hazard if the baery becomes fully depleted during the dive. Actual dive me will vary depending on individual
air consumpon, operang depth, and age of the baery. Always end your dive before the Baery becomes fully depleted.
With high levels of air consumpon, a fully charged baery may last only 30 minutes or less.
Follow these instrucons to plan your dive properly:
1. Check your Baery capacity (amount of charge.) Refer to Secon 7.3 on Page 17 for instrucons on
how to read your baery life.
2. Esmate your approximate dive me based on the Baery charge.
3. Note the me that your dive begins.
4. Calculate the me that you expect your Baery to be fully depleted.
5. Plan a me to end your dive with plenty of extra me to make it back in case of a miscalculaon, change
in condions, physical injury or other.
6. Monitor your dive me throughout the dive.
7. Conclude the dive at the planned me from step 5 with plenty of extra me to swim to the ending
locaon.
8. Upon reaching the ending locaon, begin Shutdown. Refer to Secon 10 on Page 41 for Shutdown
Instrucons.
Remaining underwater unl the baery is fully depleted will result in out-of-air hazards. Always plan the dive
based on knowledge of baery state of charge and dive me endurance based on the condions to conclude
the dive with spare baery charge remaining. Always remain close enough to the surface that you can perform a
controlled-ascent, open-airway, free swim to the surface in case of an emergency.
Dive me is based on many variables such as Baery charge and is not always the same from user to user,
or from use to use.
