6.2.6 Changing test oil
! Before changing the test oil, the EPS 205 must be
switched off and disconnected from the three-phase
AC network.
! During use, the test oil is subject to the effects of
evaporation, temperature, pressure, oxidation and
the impact of foreign matter. Regular checking is
therefore essential to ensure compliance with the
necessary test oil quality standard when checking
nozzle-and-holder assemblies and injectors. The
test oil must always be replaced if it is considerably
darker than in the as-new condition. Contaminated
test oil can result in biased measured values and
damage both the EPS 205 and injectors/nozzle-and-
holder assemblies during testing.
Authorized types of test oil:
Type Manufacturer
DIVINOL Calibration Fluid 2928V3 Zeller+Gmelin GmbH &
Co. KG
Procedure:
1. Switch off the EPS 205.
2. Disconnect the EPS 205 from the three-phase
ACnetwork.
3. Unscrew the bolts (8x) securing the left housing
cover (Fig.42, item6).
4. Detach the housing cover (Fig.42, item5).
5. Unscrew the ground cable at the housing side panel
(Fig.42, item7).
! Test oil starts to run through the hose immediately
after inserting the quick-release coupling at the
EPS 205. Always place the end of the hose in the oil
collector beforehand.
6. Place the end of the 1.5 m hose (Fig.42, item4;
1 680 712 283) without quick-release coupling in the
oil collector (Fig.42, item 3).
7. Insert the 1.5 m hose with quick-release coupling
(1 680 712 283) in the quick-release coupling of the
test oil tank (Fig.42, item1).
Test oil runs into the oil collector.

8. Once the test oil has been drained out of the tank,
insert the hose in the settling chamber quick-release
coupling (Fig.42, item2).
Test oil from the settling chamber runs into the
oil collector.
9. Once the test oil has been drained out of the
settling chamber, insert the hose in the oil cooler
quick-release coupling (Fig.42, item8).
Test oil from the oil cooler runs into the oil col-
lector.
10. Once the test oil has been drained out of the oil
cooler, detach the hose from the quick-release
coupling.
11. Clean the test oil tank with a clean cloth.
12. Screw on the ground cable at the housing cover.
13. Fit and screw on the housing cover.
! If it is poured in too quickly, the test oil may run out
at the turned-up flushing drain (Fig.3, item6) or at
the connection for external extraction (Fig.1, item4).
14. Pour fresh test oil (ISO4113) very slowly and
carefully into the jet chamber (Fig.3, item4). The
capacity of the test oil tank is approx. 6.5 liters.
15. Pour in test oil until it is above the mark on the oil
level indicator (Fig.1, item8).
" This completes changing of the test oil.
