Fluctuation in Deflection/Load During a Test
Problem: The test graph shows considerable fluctuations in the deflection and/or load values during
the progress of the test.
Solution(s): Fluctuation may be caused by inconsistent line air pressure. Check the source for
problems with flow. Eliminate all sources of vibration around the instrument. Move any machinery
with vibrating components such as motors and/or pumps away from the instrument. Run the test
again and check for abnormal Deflection/Load values.
Several tests can be performed to isolate an electrical problem.
Check the TE-BBR Voltage Values for Force and Deflection
1. Locate the TE-BBR test cable with the phono plug on one end and two alligator clips at the other
end (cable is shipped with the instrument).
2. Obtain a voltmeter and adjust to a scale of 10 volts DC or the next lower scale setting.
3. Locate the RCA phono jack labeled Force on the rear of the Control Unit.
4. Plug the test cable into the Force jack and connect the alligator clips to the DC voltmeter (red-
positive; black-negative).
5. Make sure that the instrument is powered on.
6. Read the voltage from the voltmeter for one minute.
7. Plug the test cable into the Deflection jack and connect the alligator clips to the DC voltmeter
(red-positive; black-negative).
8. Read the voltage from the voltmeter for one minute.
These voltages should be steady, varying no more than a few millivolts. If the voltages are steady then
vibration can be ruled out as the cause of the problem. If the voltage from either of the transducers
shows significant fluctuations over a period of approximately one minute, there may be a problem with
that transducer or the connection cable. Contact the Service department at Cannon Instrument
Company for assistance.

The TE-BBR includes its own microprocessor which is capable of receiving programming information
via the RS-232C serial connection. Upgrades are obtained from CANNON. In the event that
