Operatingthemachineatlowtemperatures
NOTICE:Normalenginecoolantoperatingtemperatureis75–105°C(167–221°F).
NOTICE:Themachinemayonlybeusedatitsfullcapacityafteruidhasbeenheatedtoit’sminimumoperating
temperature.
NOTICE:ISOVG68oiltobeusedandneverstartthemachinebelow-6.0°C(21.2°F).
Compactingduringwinterseasondependsonthecontentofneparticlesandwaterinthesoilbeingcompacted.As
thetemperaturedropsbelowthefreezingpoint,thesoilbecomesmoresolidandhardertocompact.
Attemperaturesbelow0°C(32°F),itispossibletocompactonlydrysoils(andstony,loosematerials),orcarryout
rapidcompactionofnon-frozenmaterials(beforetheyfreeze).
Preparationforworkatlowtemperatures
1.Checkconcentrationoftheenginecoolant.
2.Replacetheengineoilwithonerecommendedforthegivenrangeoflowambienttemperatures.
3.Usehydraulicoilofcorrespondingkinematicviscosity.
4.Replacethedrumuidwithonerecommendedforthegivenoperatingtemperaturerangeofthetransmission.
5.Usewinterfuel.
6.Checkthatthebatteriesarecharged.
NOTE:Ifnecessary,removethebatteriesandstoretheminawarmroompriortooperation.Warmingthebatteries
toapproximately20°C(68°F)willlowerthemaximumcoldstartingtemperatureanadditional4–5°C(7.2–9.0°F).
