Whenthenormaluseandmaintenanceofthemachine
requiresyoutoworkatheights:
Correctlyuseinstalledsteps,ladders,andrailings.
Neveruseladders,steps,orrailingswhilethemachine
ismoving.
Donotstandonsurfacesthatarenotdesignatedas
stepsorplatforms.
Donotusethemachineasalift,ladder,orplatformfor
workingatheights.
Liftingandoverheadloads
Neveruseloaderbuckets,forks,etc.orotherlifting,han-
dling,ordiggingequipmenttoliftpersons.
Donotuseraisedequipmentasaworkplatform.
Knowthefullareaofmovementofthemachineandequip-
mentanddonotenterorpermitanyonetoenterthearea
ofmovementwhilethemachineisinoperation.
Neverenterorpermitanyonetoentertheareaunder-
neathraisedequipment.Equipmentand/orloadscanfall
unexpectedlyandcrushpersonsunderneathit.
Donotleaveequipmentinraisedpositionwhileparked
orduringservice,unlesssecurelysupported.Hydraulic
cylindersmustbemechanicallylockedorsupportedif
theyareleftinaraisedpositionforserviceoraccess.
Loaderbuckets,forks,etc.orotherlifting,handling,or
diggingequipmentanditsloadwillchangethecenterof
gravityofthemachine.Thiscancausethemachinetotip
onslopesorunevenground.
Loaditemscanfallofftheloaderbucketorliftingequip-
mentandcrushtheoperator.Caremustbetakenwhen
liftingaload.Useproperliftingequipment.
Donotliftloadhigherthannecessary.Lowerloadsto
transport.Remembertoleaveappropriateclearanceto
thegroundandotherobstacles.
Equipmentandassociatedloadscanblockvisibilityand
causeanaccident.Donotoperatewithinsufcientvisi-
bility.
Beforeusingthemachine
Avoidloosettingclothing,looseoruncoveredlong
hair,jewelryoranyotheritemswhichcouldgetcaught
upinmachinery.
Differenttypesofjobwillrequiredifferenttypesofpro-
tectiveequipment.Itemssuchashardhats,safety
shoes,heavygloves,reectortypejackets,respirators,
earprotectionandeyeprotectionmayberequired.Be-
forestartingajob,determinewhatprotectiveequip-
mentwillbenecessary.Usethisequipmentatalltimes.
Donotattempttooperatethismachineunlessyouhave
rstreadandperfectlyunderstoodthesafetymessages
andinstructionsappearinginthismanual.
Operatingthemachinerequiresfullattentionandcare
onthepartoftheoperator.Gettoknowthemachine's
possibilitiesandlimitationsandtheworkingspacere-
quired.Thereareareasofpoorvisibilityintheworking
rangeofthemachine.Havesomeoneguideyouforall
areaswherevisibilityisnotadequate.
Grease,oil,mudor(inwinter)iceonthestepsand
accesshandlescancauseaccidents.Makesurethey
arekeptcleanatalltimes.
Everyday,inspectthemachinetodetectanysignsof
hydraulicuidleakage.Tightentheconnectionsorre-
placeanydefectivecomponentsasnecessary.
Removeanyobstructionswhichhindervisibility.Keep
thewindshield,rearviewmirrorandwindowscleanat
alltimes.
Makesurethewindshieldwiperworkscorrectly.
Makesureyouarefamiliarwithhandsignalsindaily
useonthework-sitesoastobeabletoobtainhelp
withtightmaneuversorwhencarryingoutoperations
wherevisibilityispoor.
Beforeundertakinganytravelorworkingoperations
duringhoursofdarkness,makesurethelightingand
signalingequipmentisfullyoperative.
Beforeanytraveloperation,makesurethatthedoors
andhoodsareproperlylatched.
Checkthatnotoolsorotheritemshavebeenlefton
themachine(beitontheundercarriageortheupper-
structure)orintheoperator'scompartment.
Theoperatormustbealoneonthemachineatalltimes.
Donotallowanyonetostandonoraroundthemachine.
Togetinoroutofthecab,itisimperativethattheupper-
structureframeisinlinewiththeundercarriage.
Whenexitingorgettingintotheoperator'scompart-
ment,alwaysfacethemachineandusethestepsand
accesshandles.
