CESSNA SECTION 7
MODEL T182T NAV III AIRPLANE AND SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
GFC 700 AFCS
U.S.
ENGINE (Continued)
TURBOCHARGING SYSTEM (Continued)
MANIFOLD PRESSURE VARIATION WITH ENGINE RPM
When the waste gate is open, the turbocharged engine will react the
same as a normally aspirated engine when the engine RPM is varied.
That is, when the RPM is increased, the manifold pressure will
decrease slightly. When the engine RPM is decreased, the manifold
pressure will increase slightly.
However, when the waste gate is closed, manifold variation with engine
RPM is just opposite of the normally aspirated engine. An increase in
engine RPM will result in an increase in manifold pressure, and a
decrease in engine RPM will result in a decrease in manifold pressure.
MANIFOLD PRESSURE VARIATION WITH ALTITUDE
At full throttle, the turbocharger has the capability of maintaining the
maximum continuous manifold pressure of 32 in.hg. to 20,000 feet
depending on engine and atmospheric conditions. However, engine
operating limitations establish the maximum manifold pressure that
may be used.
At part throttle, the turbocharger is capable of maintaining cruise climb
power of 2400 RPM and 25 in.hg. from sea level to 20,000 feet in
standard temperatures.
